The Designer Index aggregates the Costume Institute collection into one record per designer or house, with object counts, public-domain availability, activity span, nationality and garment family mix, drawn from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Collection API (CC0) and refreshed monthly. Every record links its museum context; designers are described by cataloged output, never ranked by quality.
